What is an E-Passport???

February 28th, 2009 by techies

E-Passport

We have heard that E-Passports have been introduced for Diplomats. These are yet to be implemented for general public. E-Passports have been succesfully implemented in Many Countries across the globe.

What is E-Passport?

E-Passports are regular passports with Embedded data chips. Data can be read wirefree off the embedded chip by electronic readers within fractions of a second. The Person’s Biometric information and Finger Print can be easily retrieved from the E-Passport. The Embedded chip uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and is called RFID tag. The RFID chips vary widely depending on the areas and platforms of application. Since E-passports contain the RFID tags, they can not be used with the metal cases. The metal interferes the Radio Frequency signals and causes a performance degradation in the devices which use them.

The Story

The E-Passport was introduced in Malaysia in 1998. Since then it had gained consistency and was steadily being implemented around the world by the year 2004.  Till now 65 Countries have adopted the technology. However in certain parts of the world such as Europe, there are certain exemptions to this rule. Finger prints of children under the age of 12 and of people having certain disabilities may not be manadated.

The technology

With RFID technology an electronic tag/chip can be placed in products, wildlife or even human beings. RFID tags can be active or passive. An active RFID tag needs a power source in order to be read  while the passive one does not need onboard power source because the reader’s RF waves induce the tag into transferring data when they come in close proximity. This is similar to the technology used in smart cards that employees in organizations use to mark their attendance wirelessly. The two main componnents of an RFID chip are an integrated circuit which stores data and an antenna which sends information to an RFID reader when it comes within proximity of one.

Some RFID based devices can be read from quite a distance by a reader and some need to be in close proximity.

Security Issues

The major security issues that needs to be addressed while using an contact less chip to store secure information are skimming, eavesdropping, cloning etc and most importantly authenticating the data written on the chip.

The other issues like forgery are handled by the use of biometrics. Biometrics is the automated means of recognizing a living person through the measurement of distinguishing physiological traits. A biometric template is a machine-encoded representation of the trait created by a computer software algorithm, and it enables comparisons (matches) to be performed to score the degree of confidence that separately recorded traits use to identify (or do not identify) the same person.

ICAO specifies a Logical Data Structure (LDS) to store the data in the chip and Data Authentication & Access Control mechanisms, which help us, address the security related issues like skimming, cloning, etc and help us in achieving the global interoperability of ePassport.

The proposed ePassport solution also caters to the needs of efficient ePassport management by providing modules to handle personalization, updating, and inventory management in the long run.

The feature of ePassport application developed includes:

  • 64Kb EEPROM open platform systems using contactless communication, with an ICAO compliant applet that will carry out the biometrics-based authentication.
  • Compliant with ICAO LDS-PKI Standard
  • ISO 14443 compliant
  • Web based system for citizen to apply for e-passport and take appointment
  • Capturing the citizen details including digital photograph and biometrics (IRIS and Fingerprint)
  • Processing the Passport forms and verification documents to convert them into electronic version
  • Personalization application to store citizen data including biometrics into the chip and further manage the lifecycle of the card
  • Supports public key certificates for digital signing of passport data (Passive Authentication) to prevent alteration of data.
  • Supports Basic Access Control, which ensures document issuing countries privacy protection of their citizens
  • Support of Active Authentication prevents document cloning
  • Personalization module, which meets mass-issuance needs for data preparation, electrical and graphical features, and key management for electronic passports
  • Biometric verification which includes fingerprint and Iris verification
  • Allows interoperability between multiple platforms, and enables post- issuance functionalities

Anyway, the global implementation of the E-Passports can bring down the misuse of passports and identity pretty much.

Earn money online !!! where to search for Data Entry and Freelancing ??? The Answer is here !!!

February 8th, 2009 by techies

Are you aware that you can do data entry work and many other varieties of internet jobs from the cozy comforts of your home and earn handsome compensation?

Well, even if you are oblivious about any of the above realities, there is nothing ridiculous. Probably, you are not the only person who is ignorant about fantastic freelancing ideas and opportunities available on the internet. I am sure that there must be millions of other people like you who are naïve about what wonders the internet has created. Anyway, it is never too late.

Let me tell you in one simple statement that internet is a medium that has thrown open plenty of exciting opportunities for earning legitimate income. Carry on reading further and I am damn sure that you would be tempted too fast too soon to get a hold of a tiny proportion of multi million Dollar outsourcing and freelancing business on the internet.

Who can do online home based works?

Anybody irrespective of age, gender, religion, and country of residence can take up online internet jobs. If you are employed full time with some company, you can do your online jobs during your spare time and earn extra income. If you are unemployed you can take up online jobs for full time and earn enough money to live a happy life. If you are a student, you can earn money to pay for education expenses. For home making moms it is the ideal choice to keep her knowledge and creativity alive and at the same time earn substantial remuneration.

What types of home based jobs are available on the internet?

Here’s a list of few simplest home based jobs that any one with a PC, internet connection and basic knowledge of MS Windows office suit can start immediately.
Simple Typing Jobs – This is a straightforward job that expects you to retype hand written or typed PDF documents into word or excel format. You don’t need to possess any extraordinary skills. It is not necessary to possess super fast typing speed. However, higher the speed, better it is for you as you can do more work per day.
Data Entry works – Here again it is a very simple job that does not demand any exacting skills and knowledge. Familiarity with MS Excel is an added advantage. Depending upon the project, data entries, database creation, form filling and other similar jobs have to be done online or offline. Many of the projects may be as simple as copy/paste assignments that involve extracting and compiling data/information/reports from various websites.
Copywriting – Such jobs are neither easy nor very difficult. You need to possess skills like creativity, perfect English grammar, content knowledge and proficiency in internet research. Basic knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), keyword density and blog writing can help you to succeed faster.
Internet marketing, forum posting, and internet advertising – Requirement of specific skills may vary from project to project. Essentially, these jobs demand that you should be internet savvy and willing to learn new concepts and idea and have a flair for marketing.

How much is the earning potential of online work from home?

Well, sky is the limit. It varies from individual to individual. Monthly earning potential can vary from few bucks to few thousand bucks every month depending upon various factors. There are many people who are fully occupied with internet freelancing jobs and are living five star life.

Where can one find online money making jobs?

Internet is full of advertisers enticing people like you and me for data entry jobs, internet marketing, forum posting, and many more full time/part time money making opportunities. Due to ever growing popularity of online money making concept, a large number of devious websites have sprung up on the internet. Gullible people are most likely to fall prey to fast buck schemes and internet frauds. I would not write much on this aspect as there is lot of stuff available elsewhere on the internet. You must keep in mind that easy money and greed are the root causes of majority of internet scams.

Let us talk about which are the good places to find genuine online freelance jobs.

There are many genuine websites or freelancer platforms on the internet. Freelancer platform is like an open market place where buyers and sellers meet to carry out their business. Essentially speaking, a freelancer website is a platform that facilitates service buyers to connect to service providers. Service buyer can be an individual or a small business owner or a medium/large company that is looking out to get the work done (outsourced) at the most competitive rates.

Likewise a service provider can be an individual like you and me or a group of individuals (team) or small/medium business owners. Servicer buyers post their projects on these platforms with specifications and invite bidding from suitable service providers. Though there may be tough competition but the chances of cartelization and other means of foul play for winning the bids are almost remote.

The entire concept is based on fair play. If you have offered your services at the lowest rate then you are awarded the job provided that the service buyer is satisfied about your job execution skills. There are different payment modes but the most common is escrow payment through the freelance website. Escrow payment ensures that there is no cheating from service buyer and service provider.

Here’s a list of few freelance platforms where you can try to get online home based works.

GetAFreelancer.com
Scriptlance.com
EUFreelance.com
RentaCoder.com
ELance.com
Guru.com

How to go about for getting the online internet jobs on freelance platforms?

Freelance platforms as listed above follow different sets of rules, terms and conditions. However, the basic concept of open and free bidding remains the same for all these freelance sites. One of the most important plus point of these freelance platforms – For a beginner or entry level participant there are no registration fees. These freelance sites are considered as the most reputed and trusted sites on the internet.

All these sites allow various types of outsourcing jobs right from simple data entry to highly skilled software jobs. But some of the sites are more popular then other sites in respect of the types of jobs and remunerations and hence may not be suitable for all the people. I would recommend that you should initially start with first three freelance sites where your chances of early break through are more profound.

I am sure that dozens of questions must be popping up in your mind. How do I register with freelance platforms? What are the registration charges? Do I have to pay any fees for bidding? How do I place the bid? What happens once I place the bid? I would advise you to have a look at our section “FAQs on popular freelance websites”. Besides, it is also necessary that you must browse the websites for a broader perspective on how to start online home based internet jobs.

Summing up

While the investment required to undertake freelance jobs is nil, nevertheless you must invest your time and energy to dig up suitable online jobs for you. Websites like this and your well wishers can guide you but ultimately a lot depends upon you. What is most important is the zeal, seriousness and conviction to excel in whatever work you choose to undertake on the internet.

Some amazing facts and advantageous of a cell Phone

November 20th, 2008 by techies

Hi Guys, Let me share with you some things which you propbably never knew your cell phone could do.

Your mobile phone can be used as a very helpful tool in Emergencies.

Check this out.

These are some very useful things which you could do with your Mobile phone.

Emergency Helpline:

The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is112
If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency,
dial 112
and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you,
and interestingly this number 112can be dialled even if the keypad is locked.

Check it out.

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare key is at home.

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call
someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.
Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,
and if you can reach someone who has the other “remote” for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Isn’t it amazing?

Need to make an urgent phone call or expecting an important call and don’t have battery charge in your cell phone?

Imagine your cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call and you don’t have a charger.
Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery.
To activate, press the keys
*3370#
Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery.
This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time. Isn’t it cool? ;)

Can you disable your cell phone if it is stolen? yes you can.

Check this out.

DId you know that each and every mobile phone comes with a fingerprint. Surprised? yes here it is a 15 Digit Unique serial number which serves the same.

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.
You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either.

Nothing is all good. No creation is perfect.

Be careful while using your mobile phone
When you try to call someone through mobile phone, don’t put your mobile closer to your ears until the recipient answers. Because directly after dialling, the mobile phone would use it’s maximum signalling power, which is: 2 watts = 33dbi, Plz Be Careful, Message as received (Save your brain) Please use left ear while using cell (mobile), because if you use the right one it will affect brain directly. This is a true fact from Apollo medical team.

With Regards,

No Smoking ??? Yells Bangalore !!!

October 7th, 2008 by ajay

After the no-dancing, no staying open post 11.30 pm, the no karaoke rules, it is now time for the no smoking in public places rule.

How far will we take these rules? How long before say, prohibition, kicks in? What do you feel about rules? What do you think is a legitimate ban, Answerers ? Do you have a favorite memory of your city; what do you love and hate about it?

What is the govt. expecting? People who are smoking since ages should stop smoking all of a sudden, when the production is massive and at the same scale. Cant they just put ban on tobacco production over night just the way the law is implemented. They cant as the major revenue source is this. Taxes!!!! The govt told where not to smoke, is there someone who can tell where to smoke except our houses. They want to make more money via fines and the government want all to smoke and then pay.

Nokia 5800 “TUBE”. A competitor for iPhone ???

October 5th, 2008 by techies

The iPhone being the hottest selling internet-connected multimedia smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. with a flush multi-touch screen and a minimal hardware interface, created sensation and a tremendous market boost in the last quarter across the globe. But apple’s future dominance is bearing a question mark with upcoming competitors.

This is Nokia’s Latest release, the new Nokia 5800 Express Music touch screen phone, previously known as “Tube”.

The Nokia Inc came up with it’s first touch screen phone in 2004(Nokia 7710). The functions of the pioneer model were similar to iPhone at that time. But now the new launch throws out several unique features which could probabily be a threat to the iPhone. The Nokia 5800 will be available for a compromising $390 US.

The main advantage of this phone over the iPhone is the Simfree facility. The simfree part is the greatest selling point as far as this phone is concerned and when comparing with the iPhone. This facilitates the usage of the phone by anyone on any network, anywhere around the world, without the difficulty of unlocking it either legally or the counterpart.

Most likely, Tube will hit the Europe first and early next year we might see it on a GSM carrier in the UK, as in T-Mobile or AT&T.

The tube will have Nokia’s “Comes with Music bundle”, a feature which allows the users to download unlimited songs for free over a year after the initial purchase. Now is that a big blow on the Apple’s iTunes store which gives out song’s for 0.99$ per download?

The Add ons include a 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera with 3x digital zoom, auto focus Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. And the iPhone comes with the old fashion 2 Mega Pixel camera with no flash. The Tube also features VGA video recordings (640×480), upto so frames per second, with a front camera for video conferencing. It also offers upto 4x digital zoom. The tube also supports video playback up to 5.2 hours, video recording time up to 3.6 hours and video call time up to 3 hours. Isn’t that leaving iPhone way behind in the race?

Nokia 5800 battery life is reportedly as much as nine hours (GSM) or five hours (HSDPA), 35 hours for music playback or three hours of video. Nokia claims that the standby time is up to 17 days. On the other hand, Apple iPhone support talk time of 300 minutes for 3G and 600 minutes for 2G and has a 300 hours standby time with no option for user replaceable battery.

Nokia’s touchscreen device comes with 81MB internal memory, 8GB microSD memory card, capable of further expanding up to 16GB. The iPhone provides non expandable memory of 8GB and 16 GB.

The tube also provides Voice recognition that allows users to dial verbally which is a new feature that iPhone doesn’t have. The tube also comes with Adobe Flash for better browsing expirience. So no more blank spaces in the browser window as in the iPhone. The rest all features are on par with the iPhone.

The Nokia 5800 Express music is likely to hit Indian Markets by November, bearing a price tag of 31000 INR for 8 GB and 36000 INR for 16 GB.

Not getting Sufficient Traffic on your website???

October 4th, 2008 by techies

This is not uncommon. Almost all new websites coming up will have to face this. The reason being the accessibility of your site. Traffic is populated only in response of the sites popularity. I will make it more simple. when you create a new website and host it, it is out there in the Internet. You get the desired traffic only when you get hits. But if your site is known only to a limited number of people, it wont do. For the others who are searching for Related content in the Internet, your site should be visible. If your website is not properly organized, it wont come up in any of the search results. All the search engines run bots or search spiders periodically and search for related content and update their database. If your Site is not organized and planned to get the attention of the search spiders then it will never come up.

The majority of web traffic is driven by the major commercial search engines - Yahoo!, MSN, Google & AskJeeves (although AOL gets nearly 10% of searches, their engine is powered by Google’s results). Whether your site provides content, services, products, or information, search engines are a primary method of navigation for almost all Internet users.

Search queries, Keywords or the words that users type into the search box which contain terms and phrases best suited to your site, carry extraordinary value. It is always true that search engine traffic can make (or break) an organization’s success. Targeted visitors to a website can provide publicity, revenue, and exposure like no other. The keywords, Content, how do you organize them, Tags, Layout everything has to be properly planned.

How does these Search Engines Work?

The search engines run these “BOTS” or “SPIDERS” to crawl the pages and documents that make up the Internet. There are approximately 20 Billion web pages and the number grows everyday in a tremendous pace. The search engines have crawled nearly 10 million of them. Like all these search engines are also choosy. They would choose the best suitable pages to populate and deliver the results effectively.

Once a page has been found and crawled through, it’s contents are indexed and are stored in a massive database which forms the “INDEX” of the search engines. This facilitates the result of a search query which needs to check millions of related content to be delivered in no time. When a search query comes to a search engine, it searches it’s Index to find out relevant documents which matches the query. When all the possible matches for a query are determined, the engines algorithm runs a sorting process which analyse each result and sorts them in a way that the most relevant ones appear in the result from the top. I may recommend to do a Search Engine Optimization to be done on your  website. Keep one thing in mind. provide proper accessibility to Search Engines and you would get benefited by proper accessibility to the End Users.

So think before you leap. A proper planing is always needed to build up something new.

Good Luck Guys :)
